what's new

Welcome to my spayce

Spayce is web and print designer Alison Harrison. I've been working in the design industry since 1991 when I declined an appealing offer to join the army full time and picked up a rotring pen instead. Since then I've worked in print, design, advertising and new media without pause*.

I don't believe that good design is about looking pretty. It's about communication, strategy, seamless functionality and visual appeal. Put those together in the right proportions, and you'll win your customers loyalty.

Please take a moment to browse my portfolio, or read about me to find out how I work and what I can do for you. Please feel free to contact me at any time for a quote or discussion about your needs.

Another Newsflash

Another hosting issue has cropped up - this time with the server company I use to manage hosted client sites - "A Small Orange". They are currently restoring from back up, due to a security breach. If I host your site and it's currently down please know that I am chasing them for updates and hopefully it will be fixed soon. I am sorry for the inconvenience, and will review whether I continue to use them after this.

Also...

I've recently changed my email address to prevent spam. If you're using an email address with alison.harrison in it, change that to just alison - and it's .com, not .net.

What goes on on holiday, stays on holiday.
[stuff I do to relax]

We've just spent a glorious week on holiday in Crete, nestled in a tiny village near the sea, in a house that was built by pirates, and rebuilt by honest men. It was like stepping into another world, with another set of values entirely, as I discovered when I inquired about the security facilities before we left.

The house was going to be home to not just us, but another couple upstairs, and two young girls downstairs. As I was taking my laptop, I wanted to ensure that the bedroom was lockable to keep it secure. As it turns out - the room could have been locked if we'd had a key, but we didn't. And didn't actually care either...
